Pope Leo XIV has renewed urgent calls for peace as he marks his first Easter as pontiff, amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Speaking during the Easter Vigil, the Pope دعا for “a new world of peace and unity,” condemning divisions caused by war and injustice. He is set to lead Mass at St. Peter’s Square before delivering the traditional Easter blessing to millions of Catholics worldwide.
The conflict has cast a somber mood over celebrations, particularly in Jerusalem, where services at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre—believed to be the site of Christ’s resurrection—have been held behind closed doors due to security concerns.
Across parts of Lebanon, communities continue to celebrate Easter amid ongoing shelling, clinging to faith as a source of hope despite the violence.
The Pope also urged global leaders, including Donald Trump, to pursue peaceful solutions and end the conflict.
