Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 31 civilians abducted during an Easter church service in Ariko Village, Kachia LGA, Kaduna State. Unfortunately, the bodies of five victims killed by the terrorists were also recovered.
Army spokesperson Colonel Apollonia Anele stated that troops acted swiftly following a distress call. With the support of the Ariko community, they pursued the fleeing terrorists, engaging them in a fierce firefight and overwhelming them with superior firepower.
“The pressure from the advancing troops forced the terrorists to abandon the hostages, including one injured victim currently receiving medical care,” Anele said. Troops have intensified operations to track the perpetrators and ensure justice is served. Additional forces have been deployed to secure the area and protect lives.
