As part of its THEMES+ agenda, Lagos State is driving progress in education and technology with the remarkable upgrade of the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle.
Spanning nearly 12 hectares and serving about 20,000 students across 36 primary and secondary schools, the facility has undergone its most significant transformation in over 40 years. Once marked by deteriorating structures, the complex has now been fully rebuilt, expanded, and modernised.
New classroom blocks have eased overcrowding, while upgraded facilities now include a football pitch, sports courts, a health centre, a fire station, solar power, and improved water systems.
With a strong focus on inclusion, dedicated buildings for students with disabilities and the addition of lifts ensure accessibility for all. A vocational centre also provides hands-on training in skills like tailoring, plumbing, and masonry.
The introduction of an ICT hub and central laboratory further enhances students’ exposure to science and technology, creating a more practical and engaging learning environment.
This transformation reflects a commitment to delivering quality education and empowering the next generation in one of Lagos’ most densely populated communities.
