A High Court in Katsina State has suspended all activities of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, pending the resolution of a leadership dispute. The case is set for hearing on April 15, 2026.
The order, issued by Justice A. K. Tukur, followed an ex parte application by state party chairman Usman Wamba. The court barred defendants—including Lawan Batagarawa, Babangida Ibrahim Mahuta, ADC national leadership, and INEC—from parading themselves as stakeholders or conducting party activities in Katsina.
The ruling also prevents the national leadership and INEC from recognising or supervising any congress organised by the defendants, maintaining the status quo until the matter is heard.
The dispute arose from attempts by the defendants to usurp Wamba’s authority as state chairman. Prior to the order, the Katsina ADC had begun preparations for congresses ahead of the party’s national convention on April 14, 2026.
