Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased its gantry prices for petrol and diesel, intensifying cost pressures on Nigerian consumers and businesses.
The new prices are:
- Petrol: N1,275 per litre (up N75, ~5.02%)
- Diesel: N1,950 per litre (up N200)
A refinery official said the hike reflects prevailing international crude oil benchmarks and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which continue to affect global fuel prices.
Despite hopes that local refining capacity would stabilise fuel costs, Nigeria’s deregulated downstream sector remains exposed to global oil price volatility, exchange rates, and logistics costs. Analysts warn that pump prices nationwide may soon rise further as marketers pass on the additional costs.
Consumers already face high energy and transportation costs, and the increase underscores the continued impact of global crude pricing on domestic fuel prices.
