NASA has unveiled a breathtaking image of Earth dipping below the lunar horizon, captured by the Artemis II crew — more than 57 years after the legendary “Earthrise” photo taken by Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders in 1968.
During their record-setting lunar flyby, astronauts Jeremy Hansen, Christina Koch, Reid Wiseman, and Victor Glover achieved a historic vantage point on the far side of the Moon, sending humanity’s gaze deeper into space than ever before.
This milestone comes amid challenging times for science in the U.S., with proposed budget cuts threatening key NASA programs. Yet, the Artemis mission proves that even in difficult circumstances, exploration and discovery continue to inspire and push boundaries.
