The Federal Government of Nigeria is studying Indonesia’s transformation into a $1.4 trillion economy to guide its own ambition of reaching a $1 trillion economy under President Bola Tinubu.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, disclosed this during a meeting with Indonesia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Bambang Suharto, in Abuja, emphasizing lessons from Indonesia’s rapid economic growth and strategies for economic diversification.
Bagudu noted that achieving Nigeria’s target will rely on private sector participation and stronger international collaboration. Minister of State, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, highlighted cultural and economic similarities between the countries as a basis for deeper cooperation, knowledge exchange, and tangible economic gains.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Deborah Odoh, added that Indonesia’s experience in governance and public sector reforms offers practical lessons for Nigeria.
