Former governors of the South-East have met in Enugu to commend the zone’s serving governors for supporting the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They described the backing as strategic for regional and national development.
Speaking after the closed-door meeting, Dave Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, said the South-East Former Governors’ Forum was formed to support and advise serving governors on key matters.
Umahi’s spokesperson, Francis Nwaze, said the forum praised Tinubu for his infrastructural projects, key appointments for South-East indigenes, and support to the region’s governors.
“We boldly say that all the governors of the South-East are supporting Mr President’s re-election, and we will continue to give them support,” Umahi added.
Attendees included former governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Sullivan Chime, Martin Elechi, Chris Ngige, and Okezie Ikpeazu.
