Ado Sani Kiri, the pioneer chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, has officially resigned from the party.
Kiri, who previously represented the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, disclosed his decision in a letter dated March 30, 2026, addressed to the Kiri Ward chairman, Saliku Mujtapha.
In the letter, the former lawmaker explained that his resignation followed careful reflection, noting that it was time for him to step away from party activities. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the party during his membership.
His departure has sparked reactions across political circles in Jigawa State, given his key role in establishing the APC’s structure and influence ahead of the 2015 general elections and beyond.
However, Kiri did not indicate any plans to join another political party, fueling speculation about his next move. He emphasized that he is withdrawing completely from party activities, leaving supporters and stakeholders uncertain whether his decision signals a full political exit or a strategic pause.
Efforts to reach him for further comments were unsuccessful, as calls to his known phone line went unanswered. Meanwhile, political observers suggest his resignation could impact the APC’s internal cohesion and strength in Jigawa State ahead of future elections.
