Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has issued a strong warning to residents, urging them to avoid aiding, harbouring, or providing support to Boko Haram insurgents.
The warning follows recent military air operations carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai in the Jilli area of Gubio Local Government, a border community between Borno and Yobe States.
According to the governor, Jilli market—allegedly used by insurgents for logistics activities—was officially shut down by the state government five years ago as part of ongoing counter-insurgency measures.
Zulum stated that his administration continues to work closely with the military and security agencies in coordinating operations and ensuring that communities are only reopened when it is safe to do so.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens while strengthening intelligence-sharing and collaboration with security forces to restore lasting peace in the region.
The governor also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist ongoing security operations.
