Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, appeared at the Kaduna State High Court on Monday as proceedings resumed in a case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
He is standing trial alongside Amadu Sule over allegations including abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
El-Rufai arrived at the court around 9 a.m. under heavy security presence, drawing attention from supporters, legal observers, and members of the public who gathered early for the hearing.
Inside the courtroom, both the prosecution and defence were expected to continue submissions as the case progressed.
Before entering the courtroom, he was reportedly heard discussing the upcoming convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), indicating continued political engagement despite the ongoing legal proceedings.
In a separate matter, El-Rufai is also facing a 10-count charge at the Federal High Court in Kaduna involving allegations of abuse of office, money laundering, and fraud amounting to ₦579.6 million and $1.1 million. A bail hearing in that case is scheduled for April 14.
Supporters of the former governor maintain confidence that the judicial process will clear him.
