The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed viral reports alleging an impending cult-related clash in parts of Lagos, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi said the command had already taken proactive measures to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the affected areas, including Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and the Ishaga axis.
According to the police, the areas mentioned in the viral message were promptly placed under increased surveillance, with officers and operational assets deployed to maintain peace and security.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, also ordered intensified patrols, strategic deployment of personnel, and heightened visibility across identified flashpoints.
The command assured residents that the situation is under control, stressing that there is no cause for alarm and that adequate security presence has been maintained across the state.
Residents were encouraged to continue their daily activities without fear, while also being urged to avoid spreading unverified information that could trigger panic.
The police further advised the public to rely only on official channels for security updates and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
