Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel, alongside the United States, has dealt the “heaviest blow” ever to Iran’s leadership, as the country begins its annual Holocaust Remembrance observance.
Speaking at a state ceremony at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said Iran’s regime is now “weaker than ever before.”
Israel has been engaged in a multi-front conflict since the October 7 attacks, when the Iran-backed militant group Hamaslaunched an ആക്രമ that triggered a prolonged war in Gaza and heightened tensions across the region.
Netanyahu stated that Israel has been systematically confronting what he described as the Iranian “axis” across Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and the West Bank.
In a controversial comparison, he referenced Iranian nuclear facilities—including Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan, and Parchin—alongside Nazi-era extermination camps such as Auschwitz, Treblinka, Majdanek, and Sobibor.
Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day honors the six million Jews killed during World War II. The annual observance, held according to the Hebrew calendar, is distinct from International Holocaust Remembrance Day marked on January 27.
This year’s commemoration comes amid a fragile ceasefire following a regional conflict involving joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, while clashes with Hezbollah continue in southern Lebanon.
