A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has granted bail to former governor Nasir El-Rufai in a case involving alleged financial misconduct.
El-Rufai is facing charges brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), including allegations of misappropriation of state funds, questionable payments, and abuse of office during his tenure as governor.
Prosecutors allege that billions of naira were linked to unexecuted projects, as well as irregular severance payments and the management of funds tied to external loans. He, however, has denied all allegations.
While the Federal High Court granted bail, proceedings at the Kaduna State High Court remain ongoing, with a ruling on a related bail application adjourned to April 21, 2026.
The case continues to draw public attention as legal arguments unfold over the amended charges and access to case documents.
