Dangote makes TIME 100 most influential list for 2026 alongside global leaders

Industrialist and philanthropist Aliko Dangote has been named among TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2026, marking his second appearance on the prestigious list after his first recognition in 2014.

Dangote joins a lineup of global power players across politics, business, and technology, including Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, Mark Carney, Pope Leo XIV, Sundar Pichai, and Neal Mohan.

Published on April 15, 2026, the annual TIME100 list celebrates individuals whose ideas, leadership, and influence are shaping the future across various sectors globally.

Dangote, the only Nigerian on the 2026 list, is recognised in the “Titans and Innovators” category for his role in driving industrial growth across Africa. As founder of the Dangote Group, he has led major investments in cement, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure, and energy, helping to reduce reliance on imports and create jobs across the continent.

Other honourees in the titan category include Reid Wiseman, as well as tech leaders and philanthropists such as Michael and Susan Dell, and fashion entrepreneur Ralph Lauren.

In the Pioneer category, figures like Kiran Musunuru and Rebecca Ahrens-Nicklas were recognised for breakthroughs in genetic medicine, alongside Aaron Williams for advancements in heart transplant readiness.

The list also highlights influential names in entertainment and culture, including Ranbir Kapoor, Dakota Johnson, and Kate Hudson.

Beyond business, Dangote’s impact extends through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, one of Africa’s largest philanthropic organisations, supporting initiatives in healthcare, education, nutrition, and economic empowerment.

His inclusion in the 2026 TIME100 list reflects growing global recognition of African leadership and enterprise, with Dangote standing out as a key figure shaping the continent’s economic future.
