Chelsea Sack Liam Rosenior After Winless Run Leaves Champions League Hopes in Tatters

Chelsea F.C. have dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior after a disappointing spell in charge marked by a string of poor results, including five consecutive Premier League defeats without scoring.

Rosenior, who was appointed in January on a long-term contract, struggled to turn the club’s fortunes around, winning just 11 of his 23 matches in all competitions.

His departure follows a 3–0 defeat to Brighton, a result that further damaged Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The club has now dropped to seventh place in the league table.

Speaking after the Brighton loss, Rosenior described the performance as “indefensible” and “unacceptable,” while also facing criticism from travelling supporters.

In an official statement, Chelsea acknowledged Rosenior’s professionalism during his tenure but said the decision was driven by recent results falling below the club’s expectations.

The statement added that, despite remaining fixtures in the season, the team required immediate improvement in performance and outcomes.
