PDP Fixes ₦51m Presidential Form Fee, Unveils 2027 Election Timetable

The Peoples Democratic Party faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed has unveiled its timetable and nomination fees for the 2027 general elections, setting the cost of its presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at a combined ₦51 million.

The party also fixed ₦21 million for governorship aspirants, according to a schedule released by the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature.

Under the arrangement, all aspirants are required to pay ₦1 million for the expression of interest form, while nomination fees vary by position. Presidential hopefuls will pay ₦50 million for nomination, Senate aspirants ₦5 million, House of Representatives candidates ₦3 million, and State Assembly aspirants ₦2 million.

The party outlined its electoral timetable, with the sale of forms commencing on April 27 and closing on May 4, while submission of completed forms is due by May 9. Screening for most aspirants is scheduled for May 11, with presidential screening set for May 12.

The presidential primary election will hold on May 18, followed by governorship primaries on May 27. Primaries for National and State Assembly positions are slated between May 21 and May 24, while all appeals are expected to be concluded by May 30.

The party also disclosed that female aspirants will only be required to pay the expression of interest fee, waiving the nomination fee for all categories.

The announcement comes amid ongoing internal divisions within the PDP, with rival factions led by figures including Tanimu Turaki and Nyesom Wike, alongside key stakeholders such as Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed.

Several legal disputes arising from the leadership tussle remain before the Supreme Court of Nigeria, with judgment dates yet to be announced.
