Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, alongside key members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has met with Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, in what appears to be early consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
The meeting, which held on Sunday, reportedly brought together several political figures, including members of the Governor’s Advisory Council and other party stakeholders such as Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon.
According to Obanikoro, the delegation sought Gbajabiamila’s backing for Hamzat’s governorship ambition, describing him as a seasoned politician well-versed in Lagos politics.
Hamzat, in his remarks, said the visit was to seek guidance and strategic direction, stressing the need to sustain the political structure of the APC in Lagos State and maintain the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu.
He added that discussions focused on the future of Lagos governance and the party’s continued dominance in the state.
Gbajabiamila, in response, reportedly expressed support for Hamzat’s aspiration while assuring that due process, including party primaries where necessary, would be followed in line with the Electoral Act.
