ABUJA — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally declared her intention to seek re-election in the 2027 Kogi Central Senatorial District race, pledging to deepen her development agenda and expand opportunities for her constituents.
Speaking after obtaining her nomination forms on Tuesday, the senator expressed appreciation to the people of Kogi Central for their continued support, describing her decision to run again as a commitment to sustained progress and inclusive governance.
She said her re-election bid is driven by the need to consolidate on ongoing projects and ensure broader access to development across communities in the district.
During her first term, Akpoti-Uduaghan highlighted achievements in infrastructure development, education support, healthcare interventions, and empowerment programmes targeted at women and young people. These include road rehabilitation efforts, distribution of educational materials, and vocational training initiatives aimed at reducing unemployment.
Looking ahead, she outlined her priorities for a second term, focusing on expanding economic opportunities, strengthening the education sector, improving healthcare delivery, and ensuring that governance remains responsive to grassroots needs.
“The next phase of our representation will focus on expanding economic opportunities, strengthening education, improving healthcare access, and ensuring that every community in Kogi Central feels the impact of responsive governance,” she said.
Her re-election ambition is expected to set the stage for a competitive race in the district, with former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello also reportedly declaring interest in the senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
The contest is already shaping up as one of the key political battles ahead of the 2027 general elections.
