KANO — Murtala Sule Garo is set to be sworn in today as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State, following the completion of all necessary arrangements for the ceremony.
The swearing-in is scheduled to take place at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, by 11:00 a.m., with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expected to preside over the event.
Garo’s emergence follows his confirmation by the Kano State House of Assembly after a successful screening process conducted by an ad hoc committee of the House.
The committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello, presented its report during plenary presided over by Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore. The report recommended Garo’s confirmation, citing his qualifications, experience, and understanding of governance.
His nomination came after the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, creating a vacancy in line with constitutional provisions.
Lawmakers unanimously approved the nomination after adopting the committee’s report, in accordance with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the Assembly to confirm a replacement in such circumstances.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the executive arm to ensure good governance, accountability, and development across the state.
