Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), also announcing her intention to contest for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
In a statement shared on her X handle, she said her decision was driven by her continued political alignment with former presidential candidate Peter Obi and what she described as a clearer understanding of Nigeria’s political future.
Yesufu explained that she initially joined the ADC to support Obi but has now moved to the NDC as part of what she called a commitment to that political direction.
She further disclosed that she would not only be joining the party but also contesting for the FCT Senate seat under the NDC platform.
The activist also expressed appreciation to ADC members, noting that she had served in various committee roles and ensured what she described as a smooth exit from the party.
Her defection comes amid a wave of political realignments within opposition parties, following recent movements involving key figures into the NDC
