The Aviation Ground Handlers Association of Nigeria (AGHAN) has suspended its planned industrial action over an unresolved ₦9 billion debt dispute following intervention by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The association confirmed that the strike, earlier scheduled to begin Thursday, was halted after the regulator invited stakeholders to a meeting scheduled for May 12 at the NCAA annex office at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
In a joint statement signed by its Chairman, Olaniyi Adigun, and Vice-Chairman, Ahmed Bashir, AGHAN said the decision was taken in the interest of dialogue and stability within the aviation sector.
The group noted that the NCAA’s invitation reflects a willingness to engage and address the concerns raised by aviation ground handlers.
AGHAN also disclosed that it had received communication from airline operators regarding the dispute, describing it as a positive step toward resolving the crisis.
The association confirmed it would attend the scheduled meeting and said all planned industrial actions remain suspended pending the outcome of ongoing negotiations.
It added that consultations are ongoing with members and stakeholders to agree on a unified position ahead of the talks.
AGHAN reaffirmed its commitment to safe and uninterrupted aviation operations, stressing that the dispute can be resolved through dialogue and due process.
