Al Nassr stumble leaves Ronaldo’s title hopes hanging

Cristiano Ronaldo will have to wait a little longer for his first Saudi Pro League title after a dramatic late own goal forced Al Nassr to a 1-1 draw against Al Hilal on Tuesday.

The title appeared within reach for Al Nassr until goalkeeper Bento accidentally turned a long throw-in into his own net deep into stoppage time, silencing the home supporters who were moments away from celebrating.

With only one game remaining this season, Al Nassr remain five points clear of Al Hilal, who still have a game in hand. Ronaldo’s side can still clinch the league title when they face Damac next week.

Since joining Al Nassr in 2023 on a blockbuster deal, Ronaldo has helped boost global attention on Saudi football, paving the way for several high-profile arrivals including Neymar and Karim Benzema.
