The first batch of Lagos State pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage has departed Madinah for the holy city of Makkah to continue their spiritual exercise.
A total of 343 pilgrims left Madinah in high spirits after spending four days engaged in fervent prayers and devotional activities at the Prophet’s Mosque.
Meanwhile, the second and third batches of Lagos pilgrims, who arrived in Madinah on Sunday, have commenced Ziyyarah — visits to significant Islamic historical sites in the city.

The spiritual tour offered pilgrims the opportunity to reflect on the rich history of Islam, the sacrifices of early Muslims, and deepen their understanding ahead of the major Hajj rites in Makkah.
Among the notable sites visited were Masjid Quba, regarded as the first mosque built in Madinah; Mount Uhud, the site of the historic Battle of Uhud; Masjid Qiblatain, where Prophet Muhammad (SAW) received the directive to change the Qiblah from Jerusalem to Makkah; Jannatul Baqi, the resting place of many companions of the Prophet; and the Sab’ah Masajid (Seven Mosques), associated with the Battle of the Trench.
