Former Manchester United and England football icon David Beckham has officially become Britain’s first billionaire sportsman, according to the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List.
Beckham and his wife, fashion entrepreneur and former Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham, now have a combined estimated fortune of £1.185 billion ($1.58 billion), placing them among the wealthiest sports-related personalities in the United Kingdom.
The achievement places the Beckhams second on the UK sports rich list, behind the family of former Formula One executive Bernie Ecclestone, whose wealth is estimated at £2 billion.
Since retiring from professional football in 2013, Beckham has continued to expand his business empire through sports investments, global endorsements, and commercial partnerships. He is currently a co-owner of Inter Miami, regarded as the most valuable club in Major League Soccer with an estimated worth of £1.07 billion.
The former England captain also maintains lucrative ambassadorial deals with global brands including Adidas and Hugo Boss.
During his football career, Beckham enjoyed remarkable success with Manchester United, winning multiple Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League before playing for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Victoria Beckham has also significantly contributed to the family’s fortune through her successful luxury fashion brand after rising to global fame as a member of the iconic pop group, the Spice Girls.
Other notable names on the sports rich list include seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, golfer Rory McIlroy, heavyweight boxers Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, football striker Harry Kane, and retired tennis star Andy Murray.
Meanwhile, Matchroom Sport promoters Barry and Eddie Hearn also entered Britain’s billionaire circle with a combined wealth estimated at over £1 billion.
