Ex-Sokoto deputy governor Dan’iya emerges ADC governorship candidate for 2027

Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has emerged as the governorship candidate to lead the African Democratic Congress (ADC) movement ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Dan’iya, a longtime political ally and former deputy to ex-Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, confirmed his emergence in a statement released through his former Press Secretary, Aminu Abubakar.

Expressing gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters, the former deputy governor described the development as a significant responsibility and pledged to promote unity, stability, and sustainable development across Sokoto State.

Dan’iya, who holds the traditional title of Walin Sokoto, also acknowledged the support and mentorship of former Governor Tambuwal, noting that the backing from elders, youths, women groups, and political associates reflects a shared commitment to the future progress of the state.

According to him, the ADC movement represents a renewed drive for inclusive leadership, people-oriented governance, and credible democratic representation ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, alongside all stakeholders, political associates, elders, youths, women, and supporters for the confidence reposed in me,” Dan’iya stated.

He further called on party members and supporters to remain peaceful, united, and focused as consultations and political activities intensify ahead of the next general election cycle.

Reports indicate that no fewer than 10 aspirants had shown interest in contesting for the ADC governorship ticket, including former Ambassador to Jordan, Faruk Malami Yabo.
