Nigeria national football team will face Guinea-Bissau national football team, Tanzania national football team, and Madagascar national football team in the qualification race for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The draw ceremony, held in Cairo, Egypt, placed the Super Eagles in Group L ahead of the continental tournament scheduled to be hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
Nigeria are familiar with all three opponents, having faced Guinea-Bissau and Tanzania in recent AFCON competitions and qualifiers, while Madagascar famously defeated the Super Eagles during the 2019 AFCON group stage.
The Super Eagles, who finished third at the last AFCON and were runners-up in 2023, will aim to secure qualification during the six-match campaign set to run between September 2026 and March 2027.
Other notable groups from the draw include Ghana alongside Ivory Coast in Group C, while Senegal will battle Mozambique, Sudan, and Ethiopia in Group J.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has also assured fans that preparations for the 2027 tournament in East Africa remain on track despite concerns over logistics and infrastructure.
