Fubara Withdraws From Rivers APC Governorship Primary

Siminalayi Fubara has withdrawn from the APC gubernatorial primaries in Rivers State, citing the need to preserve peace, stability, and unity in the state above personal political ambition.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Fubara said the decision came after deep reflection and wide consultations with family, friends, and political associates.

According to him, leadership sometimes requires sacrifice, adding that Rivers State’s peace and progress must take priority over individual interests.

Fubara thanked his supporters for their loyalty, sacrifices, prayers, and unwavering commitment throughout the political process, while acknowledging the disappointment many may feel over his withdrawal.

He also hinted at intense political pressure behind the scenes, stating that some realities are better handled with wisdom and restraint in the interest of peace.

Despite stepping aside from the race, the Rivers governor pledged support for whoever emerges as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Rivers State until the end of his tenure.

Fubara further expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for their support and encouragement.
