A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, George-Kelly D.A., has officially withdrawn from the party’s governorship primary election, citing the need for party unity and loyalty to the leadership of the APC.
In a statement personally signed by him, George-Kelly said the decision followed consultations with members of his political team and other stakeholders after a strategic meeting convened by the national leadership of the party.
The aspirant, who identified himself as a member of the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition for President Bola Tinubu under the leadership of Nyesom Wike, explained that his withdrawal was made in the overriding interest of party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He pledged his full support and cooperation to whoever emerges as the APC candidate at the end of the primaries, emphasizing that his political journey has always been guided by loyalty, leadership, and respect for constituted authority.
George-Kelly also reaffirmed his commitment to the success of President Tinubu, the APC, and Rivers State in the forthcoming elections, while urging party supporters to remain united for the progress of the party and the state.
