President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose second term is expected to end on July 31, 2026.
Professor Aina, who turns 40 in July, is a renowned academic and systems expert with deep experience in examination management, digital infrastructure, and public sector reform.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, an MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
A Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Aina began his professional journey with JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained early exposure to national admissions processes and data-driven systems administration.
With over 15 years of professional experience, he operates at the intersection of technology, education policy, and institutional reform, advising government agencies on digital transformation and system optimisation. At 39, he became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in Computer Engineering and is now set to become JAMB’s youngest-ever Registrar.
He has also consulted for major examination bodies, including NECO, NABTEB, and several State Ministries of Education, focusing on ICT integration, examination integrity, and digital process improvement.
Professor Aina is a member of several professional organisations, including COREN, NSE, IEEE, and IET.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that he will leverage his expertise to strengthen JAMB’s operations and further advance the reforms initiated by his predecessor.
