The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara State has deployed 950 personnel, including officers, marshals, special marshals, and first responders, across the state to enhance road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow during the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
The deployment, which also includes 16 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, and a 70-tonne tow truck, forms part of a special patrol operation scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Education Officer, Olayinka Basambo, Sector Commander Corps Commander Kabiru Kazeem directed the strategic positioning of personnel along major highways, urban centres, and traffic-prone areas in Ilorin and other parts of the state.
The initiative is aimed at reducing road crashes, improving traffic management, clearing obstructions, and ensuring quick emergency response throughout the festive period.
The command also announced plans to intensify public awareness campaigns in motor parks, markets, religious centres, and other public spaces to educate road users on safe driving practices.
Kazeem urged motorists to strictly comply with traffic regulations, warning against common violations such as overloading, speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, phone usage while driving, tyre-related offences, seatbelt violations, and lane indiscipline.
He stressed that the operation is not only enforcement-driven but also focused on safeguarding lives and property during the festive season.
According to him, ambulances and tow trucks have been deployed to ensure rapid response to accidents and quick removal of broken-down vehicles from highways.
The Sector Commander encouraged motorists to remain safety conscious during the celebrations, noting that “only the living celebrates.
