The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Henry Seriake Dickson, has inaugurated the party’s 21-member Selection Committee ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the committee was constituted following the completion of the screening exercise for governorship, National Assembly, and State Houses of Assembly aspirants.
The party said the move is aimed at strengthening transparency, internal democracy, and credibility in the candidate selection process.
The committee, chaired by NDC National Chairman Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, is expected to review and consider recommendations submitted by the National Screening Committee and other screening panels before final decisions are taken on aspirants.
The NDC explained that the committee was established in line with recommendations from the National Working Committee and consultations with Dickson as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
The party added that the committee’s mandate is to ensure the emergence of strong candidates for all elective positions in the general election.
In a related development, Dickson also hosted an inaugural Aspirants’ Dinner attended by party leaders, aspirants, and stakeholders from across the country.
