Bola Ahmed Tinubu Hails Rangers International F.C. On Historic Ninth NPFL Title

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International F.C. following the club’s historic triumph in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

In a statement issued by the Presidency through presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the players, coaching crew, management, and supporters of the Enugu-based club for securing a record-equalling ninth NPFL title.

Rangers clinched the title after defeating Ikorodu City F.C. 2-1 on the final day of the season, finishing with 68 points from 38 matches ahead of Rivers United F.C..

President Tinubu recalled Rangers’ golden era in the 1970s and 1980s, highlighting the club’s domestic and continental successes, including winning the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977.

The President also commended Peter Mbah for investing in youth and sports development in Enugu State, noting that such efforts contributed to the club’s resurgence.

Tinubu further praised Rivers United for their strong performance and sportsmanship throughout the season and wished both clubs success as they prepare to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League.

Meanwhile, defending champions Remo Stars F.C. were relegated alongside Elkanami Warriors, Bayelsa United F.C., and Wikki Tourists F.C. after finishing in the bottom four positions.
