Former Mohammed Adamu Dumps All Progressives Congress After Governorship Primary Loss

Former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress following the party’s governorship primary process in Nasarawa State.

Adamu submitted his resignation letter to executives of the Makama Ward in Lafia, stating that recent developments within the party, particularly the conduct of the governorship primaries, made it difficult for him to continue his political activities under the APC platform.

The former police chief said internal democracy, fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity should guide the affairs of any democratic political party, adding that the primary election process failed to reflect those principles.

According to him, the situation led to a loss of confidence in the party’s leadership and processes in the state.

Adamu noted that after consultations with supporters, political associates, and family members, he decided to withdraw his membership and pursue his political ambition on another platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also appreciated party members at the ward, local government, and state levels for their support during his time in the APC.

The former IGP had earlier declared interest in the Nasarawa governorship race after obtaining the APC expression of interest and nomination forms.
