Nigeria Immigration Service Warns Nigerians Against Travelling Without Valid Documents

The Nigeria Immigration Service has warned Nigerians against leaving the country without valid travel documents, stressing that such actions are illegal and expose individuals to serious risks.

In a public alert shared on X on Monday, the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI AS Akinlabi, said all international travel must be conducted with a valid passport, visa (where required), and other approved immigration documents.

The agency emphasized that any attempt to bypass official immigration procedures or use unauthorized border routes constitutes a violation of Nigerian law.

It also raised concerns over increasing cases of fraudulent migration schemes, where criminal networks lure citizens—especially young people—with false promises of jobs, education, or better living conditions abroad.

According to the Service, many victims of such schemes often end up facing forced labour, human trafficking, and other forms of exploitation.

The Immigration Service urged Nigerians to verify all travel and recruitment offers through official channels and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agencies.
