Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in Bayelsa State, defeating former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
According to results released by the party, Amaechi secured 44,404 votes to clinch victory in the state’s presidential primary.
Atiku Abubakar came second with 6,570 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen polled 939 votes.
The Bayelsa outcome forms part of the ongoing nationwide ADC presidential primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Despite Amaechi’s victory in Bayelsa, early nationwide results indicate that Atiku Abubakar is maintaining an overall lead in several states as the exercise continues.
