DR Congo Seeks World Cup Ticket Refunds Over Ebola Travel Restrictions

The Democratic Republic of Congo Football Federation (Fecofa) has appealed to FIFA to refund 2026 World Cup tickets purchased by fans unable to travel to the United States due to Ebola-related restrictions.

The request follows a public health emergency declared by the World Health Organization after hundreds of suspected Ebola cases and deaths were reported across Central and East Africa, with most linked to DR Congo.

US authorities have suspended visa services in Kinshasa and barred entry for non-Americans who recently travelled through affected countries, preventing many Congolese supporters from attending the tournament.

Fecofa President Veron Mosengo-Omba said fans should not lose money after being denied the chance to support their national team at the World Cup.
