Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and secured the party’s governorship ticket in Gombe State.
Pantami emerged through voice affirmation during the PDP primary election held on Tuesday in Gombe and was declared the sole aspirant by the party’s electoral panel.
Speaking after his emergence, Pantami said his ambition is driven by a desire to serve the people of Gombe State, pledging to govern with fairness and justice if elected in 2027.
His emergence comes days after he withdrew from the APC governorship primaries over alleged lack of transparency in the process that produced Jamilu Gwamna as consensus candidate.
Despite objections raised by some PDP aspirants over his defection and participation in the race, PDP stakeholders endorsed Pantami as the party’s flag bearer.
