Crystal Palace win historic UEFA Conference League Title

Crystal Palace have claimed their first-ever European trophy after defeating Spanish side Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the UEFA Conference League final in Leipzig, Germany.

French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta emerged the hero of the night, scoring early in the second half to secure the historic victory and hand manager Oliver Glasner a memorable farewell.

The triumph marks the most successful era in Crystal Palace’s history, with Glasner departing the club after winning three trophies in two years.

“I feel fantastic. First time in Europe, we did it! Now I just want to celebrate,” Mateta said after the final whistle.

The victory also ensures Palace’s return to the UEFA Europa League next season after previously being demoted to the Conference League due to multi-club ownership regulations.

Glasner, who previously won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022, once again showcased his reputation as a specialist in knockout competitions.

Crystal Palace overcame the departures of key players Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi during the season to complete a remarkable European campaign with silverware.

The win also means Premier League clubs have now won the UEFA Conference League title for three consecutive years, following West Ham’s triumph in 2024 and Chelsea’s success in 2025.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could complete a clean sweep for English clubs in Europe if they defeat Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.
