Lagos announces monthly environmental sanitation exercise for Saturday

Residents of Lagos State have been urged to fully participate in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Citizens are advised to remain at home during the exercise and take responsibility for cleaning their immediate surroundings by sweeping frontages, clearing blocked drains, and properly bagging waste for collection by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) at designated points.

Authorities emphasized that the exercise is a civic responsibility aimed at promoting a cleaner environment, preventing flooding, and safeguarding public health across the state.

While noting that compliance has been encouraging in previous months, officials stressed the need for continued public cooperation to sustain the momentum toward a cleaner and healthier Lagos.

Residents were also encouraged to actively contribute to building a more sustainable urban environment through responsible waste disposal and community participation.
