The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has elected Esther Nkem Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, marking a historic moment as she becomes the party’s first female flag bearer.
Okereke emerged through a consensus process following a unanimous voice vote at the party’s presidential primary held in Abuja, where she was formally presented with a certificate of return and the party’s flag.
In her acceptance remarks, the presidential candidate pledged to harness Nigeria’s vast human and natural resources to transform the country into a major hub of development across all sectors.
She emphasized that her administration, if elected, would focus on national reorientation anchored on unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility as key pillars for building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
Party officials described her emergence as a milestone for inclusivity and democratic participation within the National Rescue Movement.
