Macron Announces Record €93bn Investment at ‘Choose France’ Summit

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that foreign investment commitments worth €93 billion ($108 billion) are expected from this year’s “Choose France” conference, marking a record high for the annual event.

Speaking at the investment summit, Macron said the pledges—covering sectors such as artificial intelligence, data centres, semiconductors, steel, healthcare, and transport—surpass the combined total raised over the past eight years.

He noted that the investments are expected to create more than 15,000 jobs and reinforce France’s position as a leading European hub for computing power and digital infrastructure.

A major portion of the investment is attributed to Japanese technology investor SoftBank Group, whose founder Masayoshi Son said about €45 billion would be deployed in France by 2031, mainly for AI-related data centres and infrastructure. Macron added that France’s nuclear-powered energy supply is a key advantage attracting such large-scale tech investments.

The president described the development as a major step in narrowing Europe’s gap with the United States and China in advanced computing and artificial intelligence capacity.
