Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reassured citizens that the country will soon overcome its security challenges, stressing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to protecting lives and property across the nation.
Speaking during a one-day working visit to Ado Ekiti, the First Lady acknowledged the concerns surrounding kidnappings, banditry and violent attacks in parts of the country, describing the situation as troubling but assuring Nigerians that decisive efforts are underway to address the menace.
According to her, the Federal Government is implementing both internal security measures and strategic international partnerships aimed at combating criminal activities and restoring peace nationwide. She noted that Nigeria is working closely with countries such as the United States and other international partners to strengthen security operations and tackle emerging threats.
Mrs Tinubu stated that President Tinubu is working tirelessly to improve security across the country, expressing confidence that ongoing interventions would yield positive results. She urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, united and prayerful as the government intensifies efforts to defeat criminal elements.
The First Lady also highlighted the achievements of the Renewed Hope Initiative, revealing that the programme has established a modern ICT centre at Ekiti State University to support digital learning among youths. She added that scholarships, business grants and empowerment programmes have continued to benefit students, traders, the elderly and persons living with disabilities.
During the engagement, traditional rulers in Ekiti State commended the administration’s efforts and called for stronger legal measures against kidnappers and other violent criminals. They also advocated the speedy consideration of state policing as part of broader security reforms.
Mrs Tinubu expressed appreciation for the support of traditional institutions and residents of Ekiti State, assuring them that the administration remains focused on delivering improved governance, security and economic opportunities for all Nigerians.
