President Tinubu to Attend Inaugural State House Press Corps Annual Dinner on June 19

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to attend the maiden edition of the Presidential Press Corps Annual Dinner, a landmark event organized by the State House Press Corps (SHPC) to strengthen engagement between the media and the nation’s highest office.

The event, originally scheduled for June 4, 2026, has been rescheduled to Friday, June 19, 2026, and will take place at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The State House Press Corps, comprising journalists accredited to cover the President and the Presidency, said the annual dinner is designed to celebrate excellence in presidential reporting while providing a platform for meaningful interaction between government officials and the media.

According to the organizers, the event will offer President Tinubu a rare opportunity to engage directly with journalists who report on his administration daily from the Presidential Villa.

Describing the occasion as a historic milestone, the SHPC noted that the maiden edition will bring together leading figures in Nigeria’s media industry to recognize and honour journalists covering the presidency—an assignment often regarded as demanding and largely underappreciated.

A major highlight of the evening will be the formal recognition and decoration of President Tinubu as the Grand Patron of the State House Press Corps.

Several high-profile dignitaries are expected to attend the event, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, as well as state governors and other prominent government officials.

The annual dinner is expected to become a key fixture on Nigeria’s media calendar, promoting stronger collaboration between the presidency and the journalists who cover the nation’s highest office.
