DR Congo Reopens Bunia Airport Amid Ebola Outbreak

The Democratic Republic of Congo has reopened Bunia Airport in Ituri Province, the epicentre of the ongoing Ebola outbreak, after a 10-day closure aimed at strengthening health and safety measures.

Authorities said commercial flights can now gradually resume following an assessment that confirmed adequate monitoring and preventive measures are in place to protect travellers.

The outbreak, which has affected parts of DR Congo and neighbouring Uganda, has reportedly claimed hundreds of lives, prompting intensified efforts by health authorities and international partners to contain the spread of the disease.
