President Bola Tinubu has described the Nigerian Navy as a critical pillar of Nigeria’s economic growth, commending its efforts in securing the nation’s maritime domain and protecting vital economic assets.
Speaking at the 2026 International Fleet Review in Lagos, the President praised the Navy for combating piracy, crude oil theft, illegal fishing, and other maritime crimes, noting that these achievements have boosted oil production, enhanced national security, and supported economic development. He also commissioned three naval vessels as part of activities marking the Navy’s 70th anniversary.
