The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has alerted Nigerians to a fraudulent social media post promoting a fake “NIN Correction Portal” and offering free corrections through unauthorized links.
According to the Commission, the message is a phishing scam designed to steal personal information from unsuspecting users. NIMC assured the public that the National Identity Database remains secure and protected from unauthorized access.
The Commission advised Nigerians not to click suspicious links and to use only official NIMC channels for NIN updates, modifications, and corrections.
Citizens were also urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious messages or websites claiming to offer identity-related services outside approved platforms.
