The House of Representatives has announced the defection of Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following the announcement, Chinda formally resigned his position as Minority Leader of the House.
The lawmaker, a political ally of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, recently emerged as the APC governorship candidate for Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
The House also recorded several other defections, with a number of lawmakers from Oyo and Bauchi States leaving the PDP for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), while a Labour Party lawmaker from Delta State joined the PDP.
