NAFDAC Launches Improved Med Safety App to Strengthen Reporting of Fake and Substandard Medicines in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched an upgraded Med Safety App aimed at improving the reporting of substandard, falsified medical products, and adverse drug reactions across Nigeria.

The digital platform is designed to enable healthcare professionals and members of the public to quickly and securely report suspicious medicines, unusual drug reactions, and other safety concerns directly to the agency.

According to NAFDAC, the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen post-marketing surveillance, enhance public participation in medicine safety monitoring, and reduce the circulation of unsafe or falsified products in the country.

The improved app features a user-friendly interface, simplified reporting system, enhanced data management, and the ability to upload images and product details to support investigations.

NAFDAC emphasized that public participation is critical to achieving a safer healthcare system, urging doctors, pharmacists, health workers, and citizens to actively use the platform.

The agency also advised Nigerians to purchase medicines only from authorized sources and remain vigilant against fake or poor-quality drugs.

The Med Safety App is available for download on Android and iOS devices, as well as web and desktop platforms.
