The Imole Campaign Council has dismissed claims that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election was based on a political agreement between the two leaders.
The council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said Adeleke’s support for Tinubu was motivated by what he described as the President’s performance and economic reforms, rather than any pre-arranged political pact.
Olajengbesi made the clarification while reacting to a statement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who congratulated Adeleke on his re-election and remarked, “Agreement is agreement.”
The comment sparked speculation about a possible understanding between Adeleke and Tinubu, but Adeleke’s camp rejected the suggestion.
According to Olajengbesi, “There is no agreement,” insisting that the governor’s endorsement was based on the President’s record in office.
He also maintained that Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 Osun governorship election was secured through the votes of the people, while crediting Tinubu with ensuring that the democratic process was respected.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner after he polled 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
Adeleke, who secured a second term, had earlier described Tinubu as a “son of Osun State” while reaffirming his support for the President’s 2027 re-election bid.
